Salim Khabazeh
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend;

 

 

Salim Khabazeh, 84, of Lowell, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday January 6, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

He was the devoted husband for over 55 years of Lila (Altali) Khabazeh, who survives him.

Born in Saidnaya, Syria, December 5, 1937, the son of the late Naif and the late Wadia (Lutfi) Khabazeh, he received his education in Syria before emigrating to the United States.

Salim was a talented and very well respected singer of poetry. He had a beautiful voice, and along with his brothers, he performed for many years on television in Syria. These performances were viewed nationwide and offered great pride for his family.

Salim had a genuine and lovable personality and was a dear friend to many all throughout the Middle East and from many different walks of life.

He was a Godfather to over 50 children.

Salim was longtime member of St. George’s Antiochian Orthodox Church in Lowell.

Prior to his retirement, Salim worked at Market Basket for over 25 years.

Besides his wife, Salim is survived by three daughters Wadia S. Khabazeh of Lowell, Rafif S. Khabazeh and her husband John Simon of St. Paul, MN and Nadia S. Khabazeh and her husband Juan “Sandy” Mendoza of Lawrence, MA; two sons Naif S. Khabazeh of Lowell and Moufak S. “Mike” Khabazeh and his wife Jena of Dracut; eight grandchildren, two brothers George Khabazeh and his wife Samira and Abdullah Khabazeh and his wife Aseen Alkhoury all of Syria; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation to be held on Wednesday January 12, 2022, at the TRANSFIGURATION GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH in LOWELL from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 A.M. followed by his Funeral Service in the Church at 11 o’clock. Burial will follow at the Westlawn II Cemetery in Lowell. E-condolences/directions at www.odonnellfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, the family will be setting up a memorial for the deceased in his hometown of Saidnaya, Syria. Checks can be made payable to wife, Lila Khabazeh. Robert E. Sleeper, Sr.


Devoted father, grandfather;

 

Westford – Robert E. Sleeper, Sr., 99 of Westford, passed away on Monday January 3, 2022, at D’Youville Senior Care with his son and daughter by his side.

He was the beloved husband of Marian (Flynn) Sleeper who passed away in 2013.

Born in Dracut, June 29, 1922, the son of the late Frank and the late Louise (Salviss) Sleeper, he was raised in Dracut and Lowell, attending Lowell schools. He moved to Westford in 1973.

Bob was a WWII Navy Veteran having proudly served in the Pacific Theatre of Operations aboard the battleship USS Missouri as a Radar man 2nd Class.  He was present aboard the USS Missouri during the signing of the documents of unconditional surrender in Tokyo Bay.

A Licensed Master Pipefitter, Bob was employed though the years by Raytheon in Lowell, General Electric Riverworks in Lynn and, more recently, at the City of Lowell Lands and Buildings for 17 years, retiring in 1986.

In his younger years Bob enjoyed camping and vacationing on the Cape and in the Lakes Region with family and friends.  When newly retired he was in constant motion planting massive vegetable gardens, chopping a lifetime supply of firewood, repairing things around his home and the homes of friends.  In later years, as he reluctantly slowed down, Bob enjoyed watching football and golf while doing his never-ending supply of jigsaw puzzles.

Survived by his two children, son Robert Sleeper, Jr., and wife Lea Duquette of Haverhill, his daughter Carol Sleeper-Keller and her husband Douglas Keller of Lowell.  He leaves grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.

He was predeceased by sisters Ethel Cullipher, Marion Whitney, Lucy Bell, Lillian Drury, and Rena Thurlow and by brother Frank Sleeper.

The family would like to thank the staff of D’Youville Senior Care for their kind and compassionate care of Bob.

Loving mother; grandmother; great grandmother;

 

 

Kinh N. Tran, 91, of Lowell, Massachusetts, passed away on January 5th, 2022 at her home with her loving family by her side.

She was the wife of the late Ho T. Tran.

Born in Vietnam, July 8, 1930, the daughter of the late Tho Tran and the late Tai T. Duong, she later immigrated to the United States.

Kinh is survived by a son To Tran and his wife Nghia Quach of Lowell, MA; a daughter Hue Tran and her husband Phat Luong of Lowell, MA; five grandchildren Linda Kwong and her husband David Kwong, Wenisa Tran, Nam Luong and his wife Sany Luong of Lowell, MA, Stephanie Rubino and her husband Michael Rubino of Katy, TX  and Cindy L. and her husband Hubert L.; six grandchildren Sammy Luong, Kristine Vy, Paxton Kwong, Valentina Rubino, Lia Rubino and Cherie Luong; many nieces and nephews.

Longtime teacher Lowell school system;

 



Mark P. Holmes, 91, of Lowell, passed away peacefully at Hope Health Hospice

in Providence, Rhode Island, near his loving family on Monday December 27,

2021.

Born December 2, 1930, in Lowell, Massachusetts, in the house he has resided

in his entire life, he was the son of the late Mark G. and the late

Catherine (Ashe) Holmes.

Mark attended St. Patrick's Grammar school and was a graduate of Keith

Academy. He went on to receive his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education

from Fitchburg State Teacher's College.

A veteran of the Korean War, he proudly served his country as a Corporal in the U.S. Army Signal Corps.

A teacher in the Lowell school system for over 35 years.

Among his many interests, he was an active skier for over 50 years and was a member of the Wedeln Outdoor Ski Club.

He was also a member of the Lowell Lodge of Elks, the American Legion Post 247 in Tyngsboro and the United

Teachers of Lowell.

Mark is survived by a sister Muriel Constantine of Providence, RI; a niece

Paula H. Constantine of Providence, RI; a nephew John A. Constantine of

Providence, RI; Ruth and Paul Fauvel of Dracut.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday morning December 30, 2021, at ST. PATRICK CHURCH in LOWELL followed by his committal services at St. Patrick Cemetery.
